I had a call with a new connection recently, and we were talking about the best place to create and share content. Is it your website? On social media? Via your email list? Do you create videos? Should you start a podcast? 🤔
I’ve tried everything and shared a bit about how I did my podcast. I had both audio and video, and my new connection said something along the lines of, “If you’re going to do it, you might as well…”
And that’s exactly what had happened. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I was doing everything.
Audio and video. Transcripts. Editing. Short social posts. Video snippets. Embedded audio and video on my website. Emails. You name it, I did it.
It was completely exhausting and not sustainable.
“You might as well” turned something that could have been a regular amount of effort into a HUGE amount of effort.
But where did this idea even come from? Why isn’t one thing good enough? Why don’t we realize that when we add more and more and more, we not only add more time, effort and money, but we get away from the essence of our original idea? (Asking you, but also asking myself 😆)
What do you think? Have you ever thought, “I might as well…” and had it be too much? What did you do about it?
P.S. Check out my most recent podcast appearance!
