Keystone Collections Group is a Pennsylvania-based tax collection agency that has served local governments for more than 35 years. With a focus on responsive support and user-friendly digital services, they partner with over 900 school districts and municipalities across the Commonwealth. Their work requires clarity, compliance, and an online presence that can keep up with evolving public needs.
Their existing website, however, was difficult to navigate, not mobile-friendly, and nearly impossible to update internally. Keystone needed a site that could handle a large volume of content, serve multiple audiences, and stay reliable under heavy use. They also needed a better way to manage communications with both internal teams and external taxpayers.
A Streamlined Website and Smarter Email Tools for a Complex Organization
Keystone needed a site that could handle content complexity and internal workflows. We built a robust WordPress website, improved communication tools, and provided website care and email marketing support.
Website Build
We started by managing the full website project from kickoff to launch, working closely with the team to define goals, assign tasks, and keep everything on track. I built a responsive, easy-to-maintain WordPress site using clean, custom layouts by Kelly Ashworth Design. We also implemented custom post types for Careers, FAQs, and Forms—plus FacetWP for fast, filterable front-end searches. The site was thoroughly tested across browsers and devices to ensure consistent performance for all users.
Extras
I provided training for team members across marketing, customer service, and HR so they could make updates with confidence. We also implemented TranslatePress to offer a fully translated Spanish version of the site, expanding accessibility for Spanish-speaking users. I also helped them choose premium hosting at Kinsta to ensure top-tier uptime and the ability to test changes on a staging site before going live.
Email Marketing
After the website project, we collaborated on a more cost-effective and scalable email marketing system. Keystone had been using Constant Contact to reach taxpayers but needed a more affordable and flexible solution. I helped implement a system using Amazon SES and The Newsletter plugin that allowed them to segment and manage contacts more easily—while significantly reducing costs. This setup also gives them room to expand future communications beyond tax reminders.
Website Care
Post-launch, I continue to provide ongoing care for Keystone’s site, including plugin and core updates, backups, uptime monitoring, and support. With multiple departments using the site regularly, it’s important that the platform remains stable, secure, and easy to maintain over time.
