About a year ago I was interviewed for a podcast. It was my first time on a podcast and I was both excited and nervous. I spent a TON of time preparing. And then…
Nothing happened.
I checked in a few times with the host, but each time he wasn’t ready to release. Eventually I forgot about it until Thursday morning when I saw a Twitter notification that the podcast had launched and the episode was up. (What?!)
Go check it out. The podcast is called Web and BeyondCast and aims to help small businesses market and manage on the web and beyond. I’m in episode 5, How to Build a Website, Part 4 where we talk about WordPress and all the jargon. What’s what and what do small businesses need to know?
Podcasts can be great for your small business. If you haven’t been on one, I highly recommend it. Look for podcasts that you love and consider applying.
If you have one yourself, make sure you’re adding detailed show notes and transcripts, writing blog posts and linking to the podcast, emailing your list when new episodes come up, tweeting and facebooking your heart out and maybe even putting them up on YouTube. Basically taking that one recording and getting it in front of as many people as possible in all. the. places.
On the blog last month…
I wrote about (my take on) the ideal setup for your domain name, hosting and email and 4 ways to ensure success when your friend is creating your website for free or cheap. It’s great when you know someone who can help you out (especially if you’re just starting and not flush with cash yet), but you want to make sure the accounts are in your name, the project is successful and the friendship survives.
Thanks for being here.
You are awesome.
P.S. Do or die, I made a promise that I’d have my new website launched by the end of September. I’ve found that it’s really hard for most people to create their own websites, and I’m no exception. It’s worth investing the time and money to get help from the experts, so stay tuned for my new logo and professional photo, too.
