When you search for a business on Google, sometimes you’ll see a panel on the right with information about the business.
As a business owner or manager, you have some control over what’s displayed here! Follow these steps to claim and manage your business. (And note, these steps are for ALL businesses, not just businesses using WordPress for their websites.)
- Go to Google My Business and claim the business by following the steps
- You can also click Do you manage the online presence for (business you searched for)? at the bottom of the listing (which may take you through a different but related set of steps — Google can be complex!)
- Customize your listing. Set your logo, photos, website address, hours, phone number, location, service area and a custom description
- Add posts to your listing. Posts are a great way to highlight something new about your business and generally stay up for a week. Read about how to add posts here and here
On the blog last month, I did a lot of writing about writing. Read on for 5 fun and easy ways to find a topic for your next blog post (the last one is my favorite) and How do I write meta descriptions for my WordPress site?
Have a great week!
P.S. A few months ago, I started strong on some goals for my first 12 Week Year. After a few weeks, everything fell apart. I took some time, reworked a few things and made a new set of goals. If you’re interested in joining me, reply and let me know!
