Estimated taxes for the fourth quarter of 2021 are due soon, so last week I sent mine in. I have the same type of business checkbook that I remember my dad having β one of those large binders with three checks per page (and more checks than Iβll ever use). I got out the checkbook, wrote out the checks (per the lovely stubs/envelopes that my accountant prepares) and put them in the mail.
It may surprise you to learn that I have a process for taxes. (Hahaha just kidding β I know it doesn’t surprise you!)
- Every month I transfer a percentage of payments collected to a taxes account
- Every quarter when I get a ClickUp reminder that taxes are due, I pay them
- Every year I follow a checklist to prepare everything for my accountant
Processes make your business run smoothly. I donβt have to remember what to do β I just have to remember where to find the checklist. Breaking large tasks down into smaller chunks can make a difficult task less daunting.
I use processes in other areas of my business as well:
- New leads
- New projects
- Publishing new content
- Sharing content on social media
- Asking for reviews and testimonials
- Staying up-to-date with my finances
- Even writing and sending this newsletter has a process
