It’s come to my attention that I shouldn’t be using my job title as my LinkedIn title. It seems like other people know this already — a scan of my connections shows that many have really robust, descriptive titles.
Here’s one I saw this morning — Marketing Professional | Branding Expert | Business Owner | Relationship Manager.
But how do you even determine what your title should be? How do you know what to write there? A little searching and I’ve found a 4-step process. (I LOVE A PROCESS.)
- Step 1: Say WHAT you are.
- Step 2: Say WHO you help.
- Step 3: Say HOW you make their life/work better.
- Step 4: Give PROOF that you are credible.
This process isn’t just great for LinkedIn, but for personal branding and your elevator pitch as well. Being able to describe who you help and how makes it crystal clear for others.
I’m going to have to think on this a bit and get back to you next month.
What about you? What’s your title and how did you land on it?
Last month on the blog, I answered a question for someone who wasn’t getting any leads from their new website. I also wrote about creating your own content. Do you have a question you’d like me to answer? Reply and let me know!
P.S. If you’re local, come see me at WordCamp Kent next month!
