A Dependable Partner Behind an Author’s Website
Lisa Weldon is an Atlanta-based author whose memoir, Twenty Pieces, came out in fall 2021. Her website is the home base for her readers, with her blog, news, events, signed copies, book club visits, and newsletter signup all in one place.
When Lisa reached out in spring 2025 through a referral, she was ready for a change. Her site would sometimes go down without any alert, and when she asked her web company for help, it could take days to hear back. She wanted someone who would host her site, stay on top of updates and backups, communicate clearly, and help with some changes to the site’s design and functionality.
A Thorough Cleanup and Dependable Support Going Forward
Lisa didn’t need a brand-new website. She needed someone she could count on, and a site that worked as well behind the scenes as it looked on the surface. Our work focused on two things: modernizing the tools that power her site, and giving her steady, responsive care so she never has to wonder what’s going on with it.
Website Care
Lisa’s care started with getting the site in order. After coordinating the handoff with her previous developer, I set up backups, moved the site to my hosting, and added Cloudflare and Wordfence for speed and security. Then I went through the site from top to bottom. I removed unused themes and nine plugins that were inactive or no longer needed, set up Akismet to cut down on comment spam, cleared out placeholder testimonials, and confirmed she had access to her analytics. Now, with ongoing website care, her site gets regular backups, updates, uptime monitoring, and support whenever she needs it. There’s no more wondering whether the site is down, or waiting days to hear back.
Extras
Along with the cleanup, I made several upgrades to how the site works. I replaced Contact Form 7 with Gravity Forms, swapped Google reCAPTCHA for Cloudflare Turnstile (a simpler, more privacy-friendly spam check), and added SEOPress for search settings. Lisa’s pages were already built with Elementor, so I replaced the aging Bridge theme with a more modern foundation without starting from scratch. I also made sure her Mailchimp newsletter signup was connected properly.
If you’re ready for a website that’s easy to manage (and support that sticks around after launch) let’s chat about your project. I’ll help you get clear, organized, and set up for what’s next.
