A More Usable Website for a Regional Workforce Development Board
Region VI Workforce Development Board plays a critical role in connecting job-seekers with employers across thirteen counties in North Central West Virginia. As one of seven workforce regions in the state, Region VI supports local boards, helps coordinate strategic workforce planning, and ensures that job training and employment resources are accessible through American Job Centers.
Their existing website, however, was outdated and difficult to maintain. Key resources were hard to find, and the structure didn’t reflect how visitors actually used the site. Staff had limited ability to make updates or track how people were engaging with the content. Region VI needed a site that was better organized, easier to manage, and more effective at communicating their services and partnerships.
A Streamlined Website That Supports Staff, Partners, and Job-Seekers
We restructured the site from the ground up — improving navigation, simplifying content management, and making the site easier for both staff and the public to use. Region VI now has a clean, functional platform that supports their goals and makes their resources more accessible.
Website Build
We created a new WordPress website with an updated design and simplified layout that makes key resources easier to find. I provided guidance on how to reorganize and rewrite content to better support visitors’ needs, with clear navigation for both job-seekers and partner organizations. We also built out a document system that allows staff to easily upload and manage both internal and public-facing files, without needing a developer.
Extras + Website Care
In addition to the redesign, I integrated Plausible analytics and Google Search Console so Region VI can track how visitors are finding and using the site. I also provided training for staff on how to update and maintain their content, giving them more control moving forward. The site is backed by ongoing website care, including updates, backups, and support when needed.
