Thoughts on finding my way (and how you can too)
This morning I was checking my LinkedIn notifications (yes, I was stalling before really diving into work) when I saw a notification that said, “Congratulate [your connection] on 19 years at [company they work at that I also worked at, twice].”
My first reaction was something like… 19 YEARS?! At THAT PLACE!?! 😱🤯
In the short time I was there, I realized it was not a good fit for me. (Yes, yes, and then I went back. I’m not always a quick learner.)
In fact, I’ve had several jobs that weren’t a good fit for me.
I remember a conversation with a then-friend of mine, about 12 years ago now. They said something along the lines of, when are you going to find something already?
The implication was that my standards for work were too high and I should just suck it up already and do what everyone else was doing.
I wasn’t deterred though (and we are no longer friends).
I went on to have a few more jobs before I found something that doesn’t make me want to cry every morning before I get out of bed.
It took me a LONG TIME to find my way, but I am thankful every day that I kept looking.
So, today, if you’re looking for your way (in business or life), keep going. You’ll find it. And if there’s anything I can do to help, I’m just an email (or text) away.
