Defining enough in your life and business
I came across a video on Instagram recently about defining enough.
It was one of those things that you know, but it hit me like a ton of bricks.
The gist was that we can do, do, do and it may never be enough. But if we define enough ahead of time, we’ll know when we get there and then we can be done/happy/satisfied.
So what does this look like? Defining ahead of time:
- How many times a week and/or minutes per session we exercise
- How many times per week we post on social media (I recently wrote about this on my other list)
- How much money to save out of each paycheck
- How many hours we’ll work this week
- How much time and in what capacity we volunteer
- How many meals from scratch we cook each week
What’s wonderful about defining enough is that it’s a personal decision. You get to decide what’s enough for you in all areas of your life. How empowering is that?
So, in what areas of your life do you just keep doing, doing, doing? How can you define enough ahead of time?
P.S. I wrapped up season 1 of the show with episode 20 on reflecting. The concept of reflection goes hand in hand with defining enough. If we don’t define enough ahead of time, we can stop (at any point) to reflect. I encourage you to use these four questions to reflect on any area of your business or life — What happened? What didn’t go well? What did go well? What can you try next time?
